Dennis Rodman, Jamal Wilkes, Maurice Cheeks, Chris Mullin and Ralph Sampson are five of the twelve finalist who were recently named to be inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. I watched all five players during their careers while growing up. They all were role players with their respective teams yet they excelled at their position and deserve this high honor. Hopefully, they’ll get the nod.
According to Apple, the Beatles’ digital sales reached 450,000 albums and 2 million songs worldwide in their first week on iTunes. Big ups to new music media.
Tiger Woods shot off a tweet this morning for the first time. I think this move will increase his popularity as a brand. After all, from a business standpoint most of his sponsors were running for cover. If he can regularly engage with his fanbase and remain consistent on the golf course; corporate sponors and endorsement deals will once again beat his door down.
We’ve been here.. Ready For The World.. from Day 1. Relevant, Real, Revisited, Recording and Reassuring The World/Industry that we are a collective Unit of Men 1st, Artist by Gift…So Prepare yourself for the Global effect of what’s to come.
I ran into a former label mate, Ronnie Devoe of New Edition/BBD at the fitness center yesterday. Him and I live in neighboring cities in metro Atlanta. Our groups will sometimes get booked on the same shows so although I do see them from time to time, it’s always rush rush passing by backstage.
Him & I were able to have a short conversation about the state of the music industry and the paradigm shift that is taking place at the present. We both agree that the ways and means of distributing, marketing and promoting artist are changing & advancing into new forms. Adapting to those changes will be key in established group’s and artist’s longevity.
